Electroless nickel layers are in all rule nickel phosphorus alloys. On chemically reductive way takes place the deposition from nickel with phosphorus storages. World wide upto 96 % sodium hypophosphite is used as reducing agent from which also phosphorus orginates.

Approx. 2 % of all deposited en layers are nickel boron alloys whereby here different organic boranes serves as reduction agents.

Further approx. 2 % contain next to Ni-P or Ni-B the installation of solids like SiC, B4C, diamonds or in addition teflon.

Due to these layer compositions there are in relation to electrolytic nickel layers corresponding functional advantages which different branches of industry use.

Why using electroless nickel layers ?

In relation to electrolytic layers even layer distribution all over the surface

Layers very corrosion resistant -  among other things with special food authenticity

In the deposition status three times harder than electrolytic nickel - by warmth treatment approx. seven times

Outstanding characteristics regarding friction and wear protection

Pronounced barrier layer function between non-ferrous metals and precious metals such as gold, silver, tin

By different crystal structures electroless nickel - laminarly - plus typical hard chrome structure still better characteristic spectrum of layer

High layer thicknesses how it is during the complete hard chromium plating can be reduced by combinations - for example 30 µm en plus 30 µm hard chromium
